The day of negotiation, the day of free passage.

Ceasefire Strait of Hormuz

As Iranian and U.S. delegations meet in Islamabad on 11 April, open-source vessel tracking is showing a practical signal from the water: non-Iranian commercial traffic is moving through Hormuz again. Reuters reports that today’s talks are centered in part on maritime access and the future of the Strait, making ship movement one of the clearest real-time indicators of whether commitments are being implemented.[1]

According to open-source tracking, the non-Iranian tankers seen in passage include JAG VIKRAM, SERIFOS, HORIZON 1, P K A, COSPEARL LAKE, NIDI, HE RONG HAI, GARDIAN, and TULIP. The cargo ships include JIN HAI HUA, STEVE ALBERT, JIUYANG BONAN, OPAL, LIANA, and SW RICH.

That is the important contrast today: on the passage issue, Iran appears to be doing what it said it would do as diplomacy advances. But the wider region is still far from stable. While negotiations are happening in Islamabad, Israeli strikes in Lebanon have continued, and major reporting today makes clear that Lebanon remains outside the Iran ceasefire framework. [2]
